Accidental Fate

  • 30 Oct, 2022

Accidents can happen anytime with anyone. Some of them are for the better, while others just make things worse. My sister Sara passed away a month ago in a car accident. Things have been really hard since then. I lost my job because I couldn’t focus on anything that I did. Still badly affected by what had happened, I decided that it was finally time to get things together.

I am Stephen. I just got the opportunity to work in the biggest medical institution in the city, Vision healthcare. Today happens to be my first day there as a general physician. I know how bored you must be hearing about all this, but for me, it was a day that changed my life. I was very excited to get a chance to work there. I finally got the opportunity to live my dream, why wouldn’t it be exciting?

I reached the facility, and I was shown around as soon as I got there. The facility is comprised of 3 buildings, two old ones, which are where all the research happened, and 1 new one where the hospital was. The new building was constructed a few months ago and looked like a 5-star hotel. Long beautiful hallways with beautifully constructed hotel-like rooms. The entire building was filled with the smell of fresh flowers. I was shown my cabin where I was to sit. I washed my hands and sat down at my desk to read the newspaper. As I was reading, the landline phone kept on my desk rang. It was one of the nurses telling me that there was an emergency case that had just arrived and had been transported to the room towards the right at the end of the corridor on the same floor where I was. All the doctors were required there immediately. I left the cabin at once and went towards the room. The corridor felt awfully quiet, and it felt as if the hospital was entirely empty.

    Halloween Feast

The phone lay there on the bed, vibrating. Ravi entered the room, completely oblivious to the fact that his phone was in vibration mode and that someone was making constant attempts to reach him. After two minutes of continuous ringing, the phone disconnected, but it wasn't till half an hour after this that Ravi got to his phone. He saw many missed calls from the same number, which belonged to his new friend Sam. A month ago, Ravi met Sam, on his first day of college, but both of them immediately connected on various things and their friendship grew deeper fast. Ravi immediately dialed Sam's number, and as soon as Sam picked up the call, Ravi said, “I am so sorry Sam. My phone was on silent and I was getting ready for the party. I know I am late, but I will reach your house in another thirty minutes." To this, Sam responded, "It's okay. The thing is that you are the main guest at this party, and all of us are getting impatient now. Just arrive as soon as possible." Ravi told him that he would and hung the phone up. He couldn't help but think that there was something weird about Sam's voice today. Shaking it off as nothing, Ravi booked a cab. As the cab arrived and the trip started, the driver asked for the location for confirmation. As Ravi told him the address, the cab driver immediately stopped the vehicle on the side of the road. He turned around to look Ravi right in the eyes, and said, "Sir, are you sure that is the address? The app says that the address is different. The thing is that if that is the location you are going to, then I am not sure if I should take you there." Ravi was confused. He didn't understand a single word of what the driver was trying to say. He immediately said, "What are you talking about? My friend lives there and he has invited me to his house. Please drive and get me there as fast as you can. I have my booking, and it shows the correct location." The driver looked at him for a few moments, and then said, "I am not sure about what is wrong with that place, but there is something. I tried to warn you, but if you really want to go, then I will take you there." As soon as the driver said this, he turned back to face the road and started driving. Ravi could not understand why everyone was acting so weird today. He thought that they were trying to scare him since it was Halloween. Ravi was and always will be excited for Halloween as it was the scariest day of the year, plus he could scare people without getting into any trouble. He decided to ignore all this and was flooded with excitement to get to his friend's house. This was the first time Ravi was going to Sam's house.

    The Tree Syndrome

I looked outside my window and what I saw was something that I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams. You tell me, how would you react if you looked outside your window and saw an old tree, almost dead, with all leaves fallen off, glowing in the middle of the night? Well, I reacted the same way any normal person would. I went straight up to the front door of my house, threw it open, and ran straight up to the tree. The tree wasn’t just glowing. Rather, It was emitting light, and it felt so warm. I had never felt such warmth before in my entire life. I stood in front of the tree, staring at it with the biggest smile on my face. Just as I stood there, roots of the tree emerged from the ground, as if inviting me into the warmest and the most loving embrace. Without wasting a single second, I moved in and embraced the tree. The roots that were poking out of the ground now wrapped around me, getting tighter and tighter as each moment passed. After a few moments passed, I was not able to breathe. I tried to free myself but all of my struggles and effort were in vain. Nothing worked. My face was now pressing against the trunk of the glowing tree, and the tree bark had started leaving deep cuts on my face. As blood rushed down my face and splattered the ground, I started losing consciousness. The roots kept on getting tighter, and as I drifted away into unconsciousness, I could feel my entire body in pain, and I was sure that multiple bones in my body were broken.

    New Year's Eve Of Doom!

The year was 1871, New year’s eve. The village located on the outskirts of a small town was not sure whether to celebrate stepping into a new year and a fresh start or whether to mourn all the lives lost and stay inside their homes to stay safe from the danger that is present outside, which will lead them to their doom. The worst part is that the police in the towns nearby are not even concerned about the village’s safety. If things went on at the current rate, the entire village would become abandoned.
