The year was 1871, New year’s eve. The village located on the outskirts of a small town was not sure whether to celebrate stepping into a new year and a fresh start or whether to mourn all the lives lost and stay inside their homes to stay safe from the danger that is present outside, which will lead them to their doom. The worst part is that the police in the towns nearby are not even concerned about the village’s safety. If things went on at the current rate, the entire village would become abandoned.

30th December 1871, 09:30 A.M.

As there was complete chaos in the meeting held in the village as to what to do about the issue that has left no one in the village safe anymore, the legal head of the village said, “I know that everyone is concerned for their safety, but rest assured that we will celebrate the end of this year and the auspicious beginning of the next, and the clouds of doom lingering over our village will soon drift away bringing a fresh ray of hope. By today evening, the best detective from the town, who has managed to close each and every case he gets successfully, will arrive and help us get our village rid of this lingering evil that is taking lives.” The villagers had little hope but complete trust in their village head, Jonathan. 

 30th December 1871, 05:00 P.M.

The detective arrived at 05:00 P.M. and went straight to meet Jonathan. Jonathan welcomed the detective into his house and asked him to sit, and as the detective sat down, he asked Jonathan to tell him everything that had happened without wasting any time. Jonathan began, “You see, detective Harold, our village is located on the outskirts of the main town and to a huge extent is excluded, at least excluded enough to ensure that the authorities of the town have forgotten that we exist. Anyways, let’s get straight to the point. There have been multiple killings in the town for the past two months. All of them take place on Friday night every single week. Earlier, we thought it was someone from our village, but that is not the case. This serial murderer is definitely from outside our community, maybe from the town, maybe from somewhere else, who knows. My point is that it is high time we did something about this. This killer is ingenious and always gets his prey from right under our noses. We have tried multiple times to apprehend him ourselves, but nothing seems to work on him. HE ALWAYS MANAGES TO ESCAPE.”
